Gerald ‘Jerry’ Humm
Gerald “Jerry” Humm passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 83.
Jerry was born in La Crosse in 1939 to Francis and Bertha Humm. He graduated from Central High School in 1957. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962 and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. This is where he met his future wife, Mary, on a blind date. He and Mary were joined in marriage in 1963, and together they have three wonderful children.
Jerry retired in 2004 from DS Electric, where he was a route driver for many years. He became a road captain for the La Crosse Motorcycle Club and enjoyed taking group members on many rides on back-country roads throughout the region. Motorcycle riding was his passion, and he loved chatting about it with anyone who would listen. If he wasn’t out riding his motorcycle, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 58 years; his children, Ron (Rhonda), Sally (Steve) and Nancy (Mark); his grandchildren, Kristen, Carrie, Emily, John, Marissa and Ian; his two great-grandchildren, Emma and Elias; his two brothers, Roy and Don (Lois); his sister, Jean (Marv), and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, Karen Humm and Ella Mae Humm, and two nieces.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 30, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1500 Sand Lake Road in Holmen. Pastor Brett Ehlke will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. A private burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
