Gerke HR powers West Salem softball past Aquinas

Kendall Gerke launched a first-inning home run as part of a hot start for West Salem softball Monday, as the Panthers beat the Aquinas Blugolds 6-5 at Pammel Creek Park.

Gerke hit a three-run blast as part of a five-run top of the first inning for the Panthers. West Salem would lead 6-0 after the first two innings. Aquinas mustered a comeback effort but came up just short.

West Salem improves to 3-6 on the season while Aquinas drops to 2-9.
