Goats on the Go service helps tackle invasive vegetation in eco-friendly way
SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) – A group of goats is making yard work and weed removal easier and more eco-friendly.
Brandy Ender, owner of Goats on the Go La Crosse, brings his herds to properties in the La Crosse and Sparta area to eat up invasive vegetation and unwanted shrubs.
Ender’s goats are kicking off the summer at a farm in Sparta. They are eating away at weeds and shrubs around an old barn.
Ender says they do a great job because they can eat more than what they find on the ground.
“Unlike sheep or cattle, who prefer to graze lower, the grass and stuff, goats prefer higher up vegetation,” said Ender. “They will actually stand on their back legs to get as high as six feet off the ground.”
Along with the process being chemical-free, goats can often handle the terrain better than machinery.
These 69 goats will spend a week around the barn clearing vegetation.
