Goodwill targets former Quillin’s site for new store
LA CROSSE, Wis. — The former Quillin’s Foodfest store on La Crosse’s southside will likely include a new Goodwill store.
Goodwill CFO Jackie Draws tells News 8 the company is preparing to purchase a 29,000 square foot section of the former Quillin’s building on Mormon Coulee Road.
Draws says once the sale is finalized, renovations to the building will likely begin in the Fall of 2012, with the store opening scheduled for the Spring of 2013.
Village Shopping Center Manager Karen Dahl declined to comment on the deal, citing a confidentiality agreement.
7635108Dahl told News 8 last week an “interested party” is looking at the other half of the building, but no deal is in place.
Goodwill operates two stores in the La Crosse area, one in the Bridgeview Plaza on Rose Street in La Crosse and one in Onalaska.
Draws says La Crosse has the potential to be a three-store market, citing strong donation volume.
A decision will be made later this year on how many stores Goodwill will have in La Crosse.
