Gov. Walker declares July 29th-Aug. 2nd Aviation Week

It’s take off time for Wisconsin’s Aviation Industry.

Governor Scott Walker declared it Aviation Week. It’s an effort to highlight the industry in the state.

The Department of Transportation says nearly five and a half million people boarded a commercial flight last year.

Local officials say business is down about 10% this year, but having a local airport offers a lot to the community.

“The airport is paramount to the area, both businesses and leisure travelers use the airport instead of going to a major airport, it provides convenience factor and a lot of low cost service to the airport,” said La Crosse Airport Asst. Manager Justin Gillett.

To join the celebration, the airport is putting on an Aviation Day on August 11th.
