Gov. Walker visits Onalaska, encourages parents to apply for child tax rebate

Just a little more than 2 weeks left to sign-up for the child tax rebate in Wisconsin.

Governor Scott Walker stopped by Onalaska’s Shopko Friday, encouraging parents to register for the $100 per-child rebate. More than 450,000 families have already done so.

The visit also drew attention to the state sales tax holiday for back-to-school supplies during the first week of August.

The governor says it’s important to remind residents of these opportunities during visits to Wisconsin-based stores.

“We think it’s really important at a time when you can buy things all over the world that we think it’s important for those companies that make physical investments here in the state of Wisconsin that put people to work in the state of Wisconsin. This is one more incentive for people to purchase things here in the state that supports our local communities and our state as a whole,” said Walker.

You can apply for the child tax rebate at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue website. The deadline to file is July 2.
