Government Accountability Board predicts 12 percent voter turnout

Tuesday features referendums, local elections on the ballot

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Coulee Region, and the rest of the state, is facing some big elections this coming week.

With at least four area school referendums and a handful of other local offices up for a vote on Tuesday, Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board predicts that voter turnout will reach 12 percent on Tuesday.

In comparison, last April’s Election Day turnout hit 20 percent, as voters faced big races like the state Supreme Court. 

In all, there are nearly 6,000 candidates for Wisconsin residents to choose from on Election Day for positions like county board supervisors, mayors and others. Polls will open Tuesday at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
