Grant allows Parenting Place to branch out to more counties
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Parenting Place in La Crosse is hoping to branch out and help more families in the area with the help of a new grant.
Wisconsin’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board recently awarded a three-year grant to the Parenting Place, allowing them to provide free classes for their “Positive Parenting Program” to families in La Crosse, Trempealeau, Vernon and Monroe counties.
Previously, the program was only offered in La Crosse and Monroe counties.
The Parenting Place educator Kristi Starelow says the classes can help parents learn how to handle a wide range of situations, ranging from bedtime to sibling rivalries.
“These are all very normal issues that most parents face at one time or another, but we know all parents get a little stuck and could use a little help, maybe some more tools to get out of a challenging time in their child’s life,” said Starelow.
The grant also allows The Parenting Place to take their classes on the road to places like schools, churches and businesses.
