Great Rivers United Way organizing volunteer opportunities with Holiday Helpers & Wish Lists

LA CROSSE (WKBT)- With so many local nonprofits to choose from, deciding where to volunteer or donate can be a little overwhelming.

Great Rivers United Way and La Crosse universities have again partnered to launch a page that puts all nonprofit seasonal requests on your screen.

The website u-get-connected dot org is open year-round, but now also has a Holiday Helpers and Wish Lists page to show you more time-specific needs in our community.
Great Rivers United Way’s community outreach coordinator says this organizational tool invites people to think about volunteering in a new way.

“The intent again this year is to give people one-stop shopping for opportunities to volunteer in our community over the holidays,” said Anne Paape, Community Outreach Coordinator for Great Rivers United Way. “It’s the season of gifting and gratitude, and it’s not all about buying gifts. Sometimes it’s giving the gift of your time and talents.”

Each posting under the wish list has an icon that describes the kind of activity needed.

Paape says more than 30 requests have already been posted, with more expected daily.
