Green Island Ice Arena almost open

The ice arena is now being operated by River City Youth Hockey

LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – The Green Island Ice Arena is almost open for business.

While the arena is not yet open for public use, the ice has been added and painted within the facility.

The ice arena is now being operated by River City Youth Hockey.

Figure skating, curling, and sled hockey groups that have used the facilities in the past are still able to do so.

With a new group operating the arena, new safety protocols are key to keeping people safe.

“So they just want a couple of weeks to iron things out. Make sure they have the appropriate safeguards in place, with the pandemic in place right now,” said Jared Flick, the Recreation Supervisor for the City of La Crosse.
