Grilling season brings increased fire risks
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — With more people getting outside to cook on their grills comes an increased risk of accidents.
The La Crosse Fire Department has advice for back yard chefs.
Never use a charcoal grill on a wooden deck and make sure your grill is in full working order.
The fire department has already responded to a fire caused by a grill this season.
They say it could have been prevented.
“They had a couple things going wrong for them. One was the bottom of the grill was rusted out and then two they were doing it on a wooden deck,” said Captain Kyle Soden of La Crosse Fire Department.
Fire officials also stress that grills should be kept away from buildings when they are being used…. and to always use them on a flat surface.
