Group plans Minneapolis protest in NYC solidarity

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A group in Minnesota is laying plans to occupy a government plaza in Minneapolis in solidary with the protests on Wall Street.

The co-founder of a group called OccupyMN says protesters plan to take over Government Plaza in downtown Minneapolis at 9 a.m. Friday.

The protesters plan to stay as long as authorities will allow them, in sympathy with similar “occupations” in Manhattan and elsewhere.

Osha Karow tells the Star Tribune the goal is to “reclaim” Government Plaza as the “People’s Plaza.”

The group recently set up a website — www.occupymn.org — as well as a Facebook page and a Twitter account.

In New York, the Occupy Wall Street demonstration is entering its third week of protests against corporate greed.
