Gundersen employee receives Patriot Award
Leader gets award for helping service member before and after deployment
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A Gundersen employee was recognized Monday for her support of a service member.
Carly Buisman received the Department of Defense’s Patriot Award.
The award honors employers and managers who support service members by offering flexible schedules and time off before and after deployment.
For Buisman, supporting members of the military is nothing new.
“My dad was in the military, so I honor all of our service members … it’s just something that I am happy to do,” she says.
Buisman was nominated by an employee who recently deployed.
She sent him a care package while he was away, and helped him get back to work at Gundersen after he returned.
