Gundersen Health offering free ‘Stop the Bleed’ classes

Gundersen Health System is preparing people in our community for emergency situations.

Stop the Bleed is a free class led by Gundersen medical professionals that teaches people what to do in a mass casualty event.

Community members and businesses are shown how to react in situations like mass shootings, major car accidents, or a natural catastrophe.

A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss in less than five minutes, so classes like these provide life-saving knowledge for many scenarios.

“It’s out there everywhere we go. You drive up on a scene and see somebody laying there, there’s a car accident in front of you, or just your neighbor needing help,” said Vicki Baumgartner, a Prior Authorization Specialist at Gundersen and class attendee. “It’s amazing how much this stuff comes into play, and it’s every day.”

The next Stop the Bleed class is January 7. You can sign up for the FREE classes at https://www.gundersenhealth.org/health-wellness/stop-the-bleed/.
