Gundersen Health System awarded for patriotic support

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Some people see more than one career path for them, and it’s not easy doing them all.

But one local woman is making it happen.

Angela Manke is an audiologist for Gundersen Health System.

She also serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Usually, it would be difficult to balance both.

But with the help of others, it became a reality.

Gundersen and two of her co-workers received the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve’s Patriot Award.

It’s for supporting a team member who serves our country.

Because of them, she was able to take on this new challenge.

“It was hard for me to leave at first with the thought of, how are my patients going to take this? How are my colleagues and family members going to take this? But I rested assured that they would be taken care of,” Manke said.

She was based out of Fort Hood in Texas for most of 2019 as chief audiologist of the Deployment Readiness Center.
