Gundersen Health System offers advocate program for victims
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a local program is providing care to survivors.
Gundersen Health System’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program helps support victims by pairing them with advocates.
Advocates provide a number of services like crisis counseling and financial assistance.
They say getting the word out about the program is a big part of preventing violence.
“Knowing that a program like ours is right here in a health care system is important because this is a safe place for people to come talk to their medical provider or clinician,” said Chelsey Senn, lead advocate of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program.
The program is free, voluntary and confidential.
