Gundersen receives award for lactation support
LA CROSSE, WI — Gundersen Health System received an award for excellence in lactation care.
Gundersen received the award from the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) for providing and promoting breastfeeding as part of care for babies and new mothers.
The health system has five lactation consultants who have been certified by the IBCLC to help mothers.
Besides visiting with new mothers soon after delivery, lactation consultants at Gundersen also provide prenatal breastfeeding education and one-on-one consultations; postnatal hospital, clinic and office visits; and lactation education for staff and breastfeeding families.
