Gundersen to expand COVID-19 vaccine booster options
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Gundersen Health System will offer Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine boosters to eligible groups starting Wednesday.
Patients and non-patients who have already received the COVID-19 vaccine can receive their booster from a different manufacturer, and Gundersen welcomes those who were vaccinated at another location, although proof of vaccination is required for a booster.
The Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is available at least 6 months after a second dose for the following:
- Anyone age 65 and older;
- People age 18 through 64 with certain medical conditions that put them at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19;
- People age 18 through 64 with high risk of COVID-19 exposure at work or in congregate care or living settings. This could include, but are not limited to, frontline healthcare workers, educators, daycare providers, those experiencing homelessness who are living in a shelter and long-term care facility residents.
For the J&J COVID-19 vaccine (at least 2 months after a first dose): Anyone age 18 and older who received single dose of J&J COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of health risk factors, occupation or living situation.
