La Crosse County officials recommend canceling events for more than 250

Health director also urges travelers to submit new form

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Organizers of events that attract 250 or more people should consider postponing or canceling them for the next 30 days because of the breakneck evolution of the coronavirus outbreak, says La Crosse County Health Director Jen Rombalski.

Wisconsin has not reached the state of community-level spreading of the virus, Rombalski said, adding, “We hope to minimize the risk of community spread by taking this precaution.”

The health department also is expanding its guidance regarding travel, requesting that La Crosse County residents submit the department’s Travel Smart Reporting Form if they recently have traveled or are planning to travel to states that have have experienced sustained community spread of coronavirus, including Washington, New York and California.
People also should fill out the form if they have traveled internationally, especially to any countries in Europe, as well as China, Iran, South Korea and Japan, or have been on any cruise – either in the United States or internationally in the past 14 days.

Residents can fill out the form or call the department at (608) 785-9872 before they return to La Crosse. Completing the form enables health department staffers to provide resources and information. For additional information, check out the health department’s website.
