Heat causes part of road to buckle in West Salem

WEST SALEM, Wis.– This prolonged heat wave in the La Crosse area is straining area roads.

Part of Highway 16 in West Salem buckled Wednesday afternoon in temperatures that reached the mid-90’s.  The road was not closed, but drivers were asked to use an alternate route.

The La Crosse County Highway Department sent a crew to repair the damaged road.   At 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, around the time this happened, the temperature was 97 degrees.
