Heat-related death confirmed in Richland County
RICHLAND CENTER, Wis. — Richland County authorities have confirmed a heat-related death.
Coroner Mary Turner tells News 8 74-year-old James Kast was found dead Thursday in his home in Lone Rock.
Turner says there was no air conditioning in the home.
Turner also says another death in the county was investigated, but is not heat-related.
News 8’s sister station in Madison, WISC, is reporting an 83-year-old woman from Rock County also died from a heat-related illness.
Temperatures Thursday in Richland County topped 100 degrees, with heat indices close to 110 degrees.
