High-speed chase on I-94 leads to arrest, drug charges in Jackson County

VILLAGE OF HIXTON, Wis. (WKBT) — A St. Paul man is in custody following a 16-mile high-speed chase on Interstate 94 in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was notified early Monday morning that a vehicle was traveling at high speeds through a construction zone on I-94 west, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle but were led on a 16-mile chase at speeds ranging from 90-100 mph. Law enforcement stopped the vehicle through the use of a controlled tire deflation device.

Deputies took 22-year-old Jeffery Otis of St. Paul into custody. Officers found 13 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle, according to the release. Otis was booked into Jackson County Jail on charges of knowingly fleeing an officer, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
