Highlight Zone Countdown: Blair-Taylor Wildcats

It may have been a Level 1 playoff exit, but Blair-Taylor getting back into the playoffs in 2013 was a big deal for the program.

“Going to New Lisbon last year, that was a great opportunity for me,” said now senior Bradley Elvaker on the Wildcats 32-6 playoff loss. “It was great experience just to be part of the whole playoff feel and what not. And of course I’m looking forward to it this year too.”

Third year Blair-Taylor head coach Bob Schulz now hopes last season can be a good launching point for 2014.

“Take baby steps to get better. We’re looking at losing probably three starters offensively and defensively off the team this year. So we’re going to be returning seven or eight kids on both sides of the ball.”

“I think everybody is pretty motivated,” said senior Kevin Reese. “We have a pretty good intensity going so far with our practices and if it keeps up I think we’re going to be pretty successful.”

Part of that intensity comes from the install of a new defensive scheme.

“You can attack, it’s fun,” said Schulz. “Instead of sitting there and waiting and waiting and reading, we’re going to be in attack mode.

“We’re going to attack people.”
