Hilltopper Volleyball looks to mesh talented senior and underclassmen groups
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT)–The Hilltoppers are reloading a bit graduating a talented core of seniors, but coach Jess Rhode says there’s a great dynamic that’s unique to this year’s team.
There’s a strong Senior class lead by names like Ava Smith who are ready for their turn to lead, and they mesh well with a great group of Sophomores who are improving their game at an impressive pace.
“We have a very strong Sophomore class coming back so we have a couple of returners there, we have 5 returning starters from last season which is nice. So we have a very strong younger group of kids but they also need that leadership and the Seniors this year are bringing that to the table already,” explained Rhode.
“The underclassmen and Sophomore are very talented group and they’re also hard working which is good for our team to especially to build our program after the Seniors left,” explained Smith.
The Hilltoppers have a great challenge to start the season, opening up against a talented Holmen squad Tuesday, Sept. 24.
