Historic Downtown Day brings crowds to La Crosse
Saturday focused on history and culture behind downtown area
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Saturday was the annual Historic Downtown Day in La Crosse.
The 20th year of the event brought hundreds downtown throughout the day to celebrate the area’s culture and history with plenty of activities, sales, and live entertainment. People from all over are enjoying the architectural beauty, and the nearly 160 year history of the downtown area.
One local shop owner says the crowds these events bring in is a sign of how popular our area really is.
“It makes us proud of our city, it makes us happy that people are coming back, there’s a class reunion this year, there’s weddings, there’s all kinds of things going on, but they feel like this day is extra special because of the historical significance,” said The Antique Center Co-Owner Ann Nelson.
Events included free horse-drawn carriage rides, free trolley tours, live entertainment, and much more.
