History comes to life at Oak Grove Cemetery

Silent City Cemetery tour talks about La Crosse's past

La Crosse’s history was on display at the Oak Grove Cemetery this weekend.

It’s part of the 15th annual Silent City Cemetery tour. This year, residents got to learn a little more about the Civil War history from our area.

Local actors also dressed the part, representing historical figures that are buried at Oak Grove.

The La Crosse County Historical society says it’s a valuable learning experience. “A lot of people the first time they’re amazed at what they can actually learn in a situation like this and they learn so many things that they never realized before, they learn histories of La Crosse as well as the Civil War.” said George Italiano from the La Crosse County historical Society.

There were 8 reenactments on this year’s tour.
