Holmen baseball “ready for the next step”

MVC champs have high hopes for postseason

With three games left in the season, the Holmen baseball team remains perfect. The Vikings are 19-0.

The No. 1 team in the state swept Central Thursday night to clinch its fifth championship and third in a row. But the Vikings have higher goals.

“It’s definitely nice because you’re playing all season and you want to play for something so it’s good to win conference. We just gotta end the season on a strong note and we just want to build momentum into the playoffs,” senior Michael Woggon said.

“It feels nice but we’re looking to bigger and better things obviously so we’re ready for the next step,” said senior Jeren Kendall.

Holmen rounds out the conference season at Tomah Tuesday, then has two non-conference games against Sauk Prairie and Chippewa Falls.

The Vikings are a No. 1-seed for the WIAA playoffs. They face either Logan or Onalaska June 5th in regional play.
