Holmen celebrates opening of new community library

After years of planning, Holmen celebrated the grand opening of its new library with the official ribbon cutting Monday.

The library is the second piece of a long-term three-step plan to improve the growing community following the construction of a new police department in 2015.

The 18,000 square foot $4 million library took more than 5 years to plan and build, with ground finally being broken in August of last year.

Village president Nancy Proctor says it’s everything they’d hoped and dreamed for a long time.

“We’re very pleased with it, I think it’s going to be just totally accomodating for all of our residents and area residents,” said Proctor.

Village leaders still hope to build a new community center near Holmen High School in the near future.
