Holmen Day of Giving raises money for new community center

Members of one local community took the time Saturday to recognize the spirit of giving.

Holmen proclaimed Saturday as Holmen Area Community Center’s Day of Giving.

The Holmen American Legion hosted an event to take collective action to improve the community. The event featured prizes, food, drinks and live music. The goal was to raise money for a new $3 million dollar community center. The organization currently has raised roughly $2 million their $3 million goal.

Organizers said this event shows the spirit of the community.

“What today’s really all about is we say to those who are our benefactors or our givers, ‘This community really supports this,’ and we’re using that as a sounding board to be able to tell the story. But what today really does is it shows the story. It shows the community truly investing in something they believe in,” said Holmen Area Community Center board of directors president Mary Lin Wershofen.
