Holmen teen dies after ‘car surfing’ incident
Police: Alcohol believed to be a factor
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A Holmen teenager has died after being involved in a car incident early Saturday morning.
According to the La Crosse Police Department, 18-year-old Quacheenu Zach Vang died at Gundersen early Sunday morning.
In the report, Zach Vang told the Holmen Police Department he was assaulted by several individuals at the Holmen High School. However, while at the hospital, officials discovered several inconsistencies with his story.
After an investigation, authorities found out that Vang was “car surfing” early Saturday morning. He, along with several other individuals, would stand on the hood or trunk of a moving vehicle. Vang had fallen off in the area of East Avenue, south of Losey Boulevard, and sustained multiple injuries, including head injuries.
Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor and they are looking into charges.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday in Madison.
Vang was studying graphic design at Western Technical College.
