Home gun sales restriction triggers Dubuque ebate
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — New restrictions on gun sales from homes have been passed in the first vote by the Dubuque City Council.
The council voted 5-2 on Monday to approve an ordinance amendment that would add firearms businesses to the list of businesses barred from residential neighborhoods. Council members will consider the proposal at least once more before it could be adopted.
Some residents who attended the meeting cited security concerns as they urged the council to approve the measure.
Other residents said the measure is based on unreasonable fear stemming from a handful of horrible shooting incidents elsewhere in the country.
