LA CROSSE, Wis. — The month of November saw a jump in home prices, but a drop in home sales in the city of La Crosse.

A Wisconsin Realtors Association report shows median home prices went up about 10% compared to November of last year to $155,000.   There was also an almost 24% drop in sales.

That’s opposite of what’s going on statewide where home sales are up and prices down.

The La Crosse Area Realtors Association says don’t read too much into the latest numbers.  “I would never want to take one month at any given point in the year and say that’s a true indicator of how our market is performing,” LARA President Chad Niegelsen.

For the year, La Crosse home prices are up less than a percent from last year.  Home sales are down 14%.  However, realtors stress with interest rates at record lows, now is still a great time to buy.
