HorseSense in need of volunteers for therapeutic horseback riding program

COON VALLEY, Wis. (WKBT) – If you or someone you know is passionate about helping others, there’s a unique opportunity right here in our community.

HorseSense in Coon Valley is looking for volunteers for its therapeutic horseback riding program.

Volunteers work primarily with kids, adults, and military veterans with a variety of disabilities; assisting them with riding lessons.

It’s a chance to make a difference and empower the lives of others.

HorseSense executive director Samantha Hall said Wednesday therapeutic horseback riding benefits the mind, body, and soul.

“People come to us just for, you know, that little piece of freedom for perhaps the first part of their week,” she explained.

Volunteers have to be 14 years or older and are asked to commit to helping out at least one day a week.

Most lessons take place in the evening.

Experience with horses is a plus but not required.
