Houston girls basketball advances to next round of Section 1A tournament

Three-seeded Houston girls basketball beat 14-seed Spring Grove 50-30 on Thursday to advance in the Section 1A playoffs.

Eight-seed Mabel-Canton fell to Randolph 42-39 via a last-second shot. Senior Payton Danielson ended her Cougar career as the program’s all-time leading scorer.

In Section 1AA, four seed Cotter defeated La Crescent, while Caledonia fell to top seed Lourdes.
