Hundreds of residents participate in MS Walk
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Area residents are taking a stand against multiple sclerosis today, by getting involved in the 16th annual M.S. Walk.
The walk brought out more than 600 people to walk the three-mile route.
Participants took pledges from friends and family to help raise money to find a cure for the disease.
Organizers say the event helps show those with M.S. how much their community supports them.
“You always think that it’s a disease that’s only attacking you and you find out, no it’s not, you’ve got lots of friends out there and they all come together year after year here and support each other, and it’s great to see your friends come back, even though you don’t even know their name, you know them because they do the walk,” said volunteer Rachelle Fanello.
About 80 percent of the money raised from the event will stay right here in Wisconsin to benefit families affected by M.S.
