Hundreds particpate in “Run From the Cops” Run/Walk
Funds raised benifit Santa's List Program and Onalaska Police Department's National Night Out
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Community members had the chance to get to know the police officers that keep them safe while also staying active as part of the Run From the Cops Race/Walk put on by the Onalaska Police Department.
An estimated 250 participants signed up for the run – walk. The event has raised over 18-thousand dollars in the past four years. Organizers say those funds, as well as the community support, is why they continue holding the race.
President of the Onalaska Professional Police Association Lisa Gerbig says, “It’s exciting to have the positive interaction and it’s also exciting to see the same faces coming back here year after year asking us in May if we’re doing our event again.”
Funds from the event will benefit the Santa’s List Program as well as the Onalaska Police Department’s National Night Out.
