Hunger Task Force accepting venison donations from Wisconsin gun-deer season

Local food pantries are hoping to see some donations following this year’s hunt.

The Hunger Task Force, which collects and distributes donations to area food pantries, is hosting its ‘Hunt for the Hungry’ program.

Hunters looking to donate venison have to field dress the deer and drop it off at a participating processor. That business will take care of the processing, cost, and getting the venison to the Hunger Task Force.

“Hunters can go out for their sport. If they take the deer home for their families, maybe the next one that they shoot they can make sure to donate to one of the processors,” said Hunger Task Force Executive Director Shelly Fortner.

The processors are also accepting cash donations to help pay for those processing costs. You can find a list of participating locations on the Hunger Task Force website.
