Multiple people killed in I-94 crash near Johnson Creek, authorities say

JOHNSON CREEK, Wis. — Multiple people were killed Wednesday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on I-94 westbound.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office officials said the crash happened just before 4 a.m. when a vehicle pulling a cargo trailer lost control and crashed into a guardrail. A second vehicle then collided with the cargo trailer before a semi-truck also crashed into the trailer and guardrail.

Authorities did not immediately specify how many people were killed, but News 3 Now has reached out to learn more.

The interstate near mile marker 262 shut down after the crash. It’s expected to fully reopen around 11 a.m.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, Jefferson County Medical Examiner and emergency crews from Lake Mills, Johnson Creek and Watertown helped at the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
