Wisconsin AG Kaul announces task force to fight human trafficking

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Justice took a large step Wednesday in the fight against human trafficking.
Attorney General Josh Kaul announced the recreation of the Wisconsin Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, which will be led by the DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation and Project Respect.
The statewide task force will be made up of federal, state and tribal law enforcement groups as well as victim service providers.
“This task force will enhance efforts in Wisconsin to combat human trafficking and provide support for survivors,” Kaul said. “We can help ensure that Wisconsin is taking a comprehensive approach to fighting this crime.”
Wisconsin previously had an Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force from 2015 to 2017, co-led by the Office of the Attorney General and the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. The DOJ said the current force will build on the foundation created by the previous one.
The force is funded by a multi-year grant from the United States Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime.
