‘Impeachment Eve’ rally takes place at Cameron Park

A historic vote on the impeachment of President Donald Trump is expected Wednesday in the House of Representatives.

Organized rallies for and against the impeachment are taking place across the country, including in Milwaukee and St. Paul. On Tuesday night, dozens of people rallied in La Crosse’s Cameron Park.

The rally was part of hundreds of pro-impeachment events that day, organized by the social action group MoveOn.

More than 100 protesters listened to speakers from all over the Tri-state area about why they think the President should be impeached.

“Our president is disobeying the constitution, committing many impeachable offenses, and when we have a president who isn’t obeying the constitution then we have the right to use a tool at our disposal, which is impeachment,” said Human Rights Advocate and rally organizer, Janette Dean.

Some counter protestors did show up, holding signs in support of President Trump and against impeachment. A short altercation broke out between a few people from both groups.

Tempers flared and a woman ended up on the ground, entangled in a Trump supporters flag.

Although the situation caused a lot of distress, both sides worked together and got her back on her feet.
