Changes coming to Main Street, Market Square, La Crosse Center parking ramps
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Changes are coming to the Main Street, Market Square and La Crosse Center parking ramps.
City of La Crosse Director of Public Works Dale Hexom issued a public service announcement on Friday, April 18 to remind everyone about parking ramp fees.
Main Street Ramp, Market Square Ramp
8 a.m. Monday, April 21 – Ramp entrance gates and ticket dispensers will be active and operating. People will have to pull a ticket to enter the ramp. The gates at the ramp pay station exits will be open. No parking fee will be required on Monday.
People who rent parking spaces in the ramp will need to use the access card they have been issued to enter.
8 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 — Ramp entrance gates and ticket dispensers will be operating. Exit gates and pay stations will be operating. Parking fees will need to be paid to exit the ramp. Fees can be paid with coins, credit, or debit cards.
People who rent parking spaces in the ramp will need to use the access card they have been issued to enter.
La Crosse Center Ramp
8 a.m. Monday, April 28 – The ramp entrance gates and ticket dispensers will be active and operating. People will have to pull a ticket to enter the ramp. The gates at the ramp pay station exits will be open on Monday the 28 . No parking fee will be required that day.
People who rent parking spaces in the ramp will need to use the access card they have been issued to enter.
8 a.m. Tuesday, April 29 – Ramp entrance gates and ticket dispensers will be operating. Exit gates and pay stations will be operating. Parking fees will need to be paid to exit the ramp. Fees can be paid with coins, credit, or debit cards.

In late February, the La Crosse Parking Utilities Board voted to:
A. On-Street Parking:
1. Reinstate the 2-hour free limit M-F 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
2. Reinstate free parking on evenings and weekend days (except for 1 a.m. overnight parking)
B. Main Street, Market Square and La Crosse Center Ramps:
1. Reinstate the three-hour grace period M-F 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
2. Establish a $0.75/hour charge thereafter M-F 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
3. Reinstate the free parking on weekday evenings after 6 p.m. until 1 a.m.
4. Between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. institute a $0.50/hour charge (overnight parking)
5. Reinstate the free parking on weekend days (except overnight parking)
6. Keep the $6 lost ticket charge
