Intensive public planning sessions planned for Riverside North development

Residents, designers and city planners will be involved

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The city of La Crosse is asking for the public’s help in designing its new Riverside North development.

The new development will stretch 65 acres along the river, just north of downtown La Crosse.

To bounce ideas off the public, the city is holding a series of intensive planning sessions. They will include residents, designers, and city planners.

The process not only gets the public involved in the redevelopment, but also speeds up the planning process.

“A typical planning process might take about 12 to 18 months and a lot of times what we’ve learned is that by the time you get 18 months from now, the public has forgot about the project and everything else,” said City Planner Larry Kirch.

Here are the upcoming public meetings:

Wednesday, May 14 7-9 p.m. at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts, 428 Front Street; Topic: Introduction to Charrette & Redevelopment Site, Public Workshop
Saturday, May 17 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  at Western Technical College – Coleman Center, 304 6 th Street, Room 133-B; Topic: Review Alternatives
Thursday, May 20 7- 9 p.m. at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts; Topic: Final Presentation
