Investment professional urges calm as stock markets move up and down

Dow Jones Industrial Average rose more than 1,000 points on Tuesday

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Stock markets have been volatile this week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished up a little more than 1,000 points Tuesday.

That was after a more than 2,000 point drop yesterday.

The global impact of the coronavirus is thought to play into part of the drop.

While stocks may be fluctuating, local investment professionals say when it comes to stocks it’s a marathon not a sprint.

“Corrections are part of the investment journey. What’s most important to do when we have events like yesterday is to tune out the noise, stay focused on the long term plan and not overreact,” said Yan Arsenault, TrustPoint investment vice president.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down about 4,000 points since the start of the year.
