Iowa driver who intentionally hit another car gets 10 years

A northwest Iowa woman accused of intentionally crashing her vehicle into another has been imprisoned.

Melissa Ebert had pleaded guilty in Plymouth County District Court to two counts of serious injury by motor vehicle. On Monday she was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Ebert threatened to kill herself and her passenger before purposely veering her vehicle into the path of an oncoming car Sept. 9, 2015. The collision seriously injured Ebert’s passenger, Damian Johnson, and the other driver, Dustin Boll, of Le Mars.
