Iowa football coach remains state’s top earner

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — University of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz is still the state’s top earner, making more than $3.8 million a year.

The state released its salary database Tuesday, showing Ferentz remained in the top spot, earning far more than the university’s vice president for medical affairs, Jean Robillard, who came in second with a combined total compensation of $1.28 million.

The Gazette reports that the salary database includes more than 60,000 state employees.

Coaches and doctors are always at the top of the list.

Former University of Iowa basketball coach Todd Lickliter is ranked fourth on the list at more than $883,000 despite being fired in 2010.
