Iowa inmate serving 24-year sentence goes missing

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — An inmate serving a 24-year sentence has been reported missing from a work-release facility in Des Moines.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says 34-year-old Kory Moorman was placed on escape status at 9 p.m. Saturday, after he failed to return from work release.

Moorman was sentenced in 2003 for several convictions out of Polk County, including assault with intent to injure a police officer, driving while barred and eluding. He was transferred to the work-release center in August.
