Iowa man accused of killing parents says he ‘snapped’
An eastern Iowa man accused of fatally shooting his parents says in a jailhouse recording that he did it because he snapped after an argument with them.
The Quad-City Times reports that 21-year-old Sean M. Freese made the comment during a jailhouse call to a friend, hours after prosecutors say he shot his parents in their bedroom on Oct. 5, 2016. The call was played Thursday during Freese’s first-degree murder trial in Scott County District Court in Davenport.
Freese faces a mandatory life prison sentence if convicted for the deaths of 58-year-old Kevin Freese and 57-year-old Donna Freese. He has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say Sean Freese fought with his parents about his school work and missed curfews.
