Iowa man convicted of federal sex abuse charges

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A jury has convicted a northern Iowa man of federal charges of sexual abuse, child pornography and transporting minors over state lines for sex.

The Globe Gazette in Mason City reports that 31-year-old Michael Goodale was found guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court for the District of Northern Iowa.

Goodale was accused of abusing two boys under the age of 12 between 2008 and September 2011. He was indicted in March on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse, two counts of interstate transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and one count of accessing child pornography.

A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered. Goodale could face life in prison.
