Iowa man dies while swimming in old gravel pit
NEWELL, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say an autopsy has been planned on the body of a man who died while swimming in an old gravel pit in northwest Iowa.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred about 8:15 p.m. Monday at the pit northwest of Newell.
The office says 49-year-old Kurtis Kruse, of Newell, went under the water but didn’t resurface. His body was recovered about 9:40 p.m.
The incident is being investigated.
