Iowa man guilty of traffic charge for fatal crash
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa man involved in a fatal pedestrian-truck crash in April has been convicted of a traffic violation.
The Globe Gazette in Mason City reports that 88-year-old Max Eugene Christensen was found guilty of failing to yield to a pedestrian. He will have to pay fines and court charges totaling more than $900, and will have his license suspended for 180 days.
Christensen, of Clear Lake, struck 73-year-old Carolyn Glee Mahaffey as she crossed an intersection in the city on April 3. Mahaffey, of Clear Lake, was taken to a hospital but died later that day.
